Rusty Zimmerman (American, b. 1979) is the Founder/Artist of the Free Portrait Project.
His 200 portraits from life and recorded oral histories of Crown Heights exhibited at Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Children's Museum, and Brooklyn Borough Hall, and the permanent collection of Poster House NYC.
His 200 portraits of Southern Brooklyn exhibited at 11 venues including Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Public Library, and Industry City.
Zimmerman’s work has been featured in the New York Times, CityLab, and Saatchi Gallery Magazine in London, and has lectured at NYU, Wellesley and Long Island University, and he was the portrait and poster artist to former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Zimmerman lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
